When Australian Parents Buy Personalised Gifts: Order Timing by Occasion

Personalised gifts are rarely a same-day purchase. They take a name, a character, sometimes a message, before they can be printed and shipped. That lead time shows up clearly in order data, with sharp, predictable peaks tied to specific occasions.

How far ahead do Australians order Mother's Day gifts?

Orders for our Mother's Day title cluster overwhelmingly in the six weeks before the day itself. Combined, April and May account for nearly all orders of that book across the year, with the single biggest week landing roughly two to three weeks out from Mother's Day. Very few orders arrive in the final days before, which lines up with the production and shipping time a personalised book needs.

When do back-to-school personalised books sell?

Our starting-school title behaves differently again: the vast majority of its orders land in January, ahead of the Australian school year starting in late January or early February. Parents are clearly buying this one as a first-day-of-school milestone gift, timed to arrive before term starts rather than as a birthday or holiday purchase.

Is there a broader seasonal pattern across all personalised book orders?

Yes. Order volume rises sharply in November and December for Christmas, dips in the new year, then climbs again from February through May as Mother's Day approaches. The quietest months are consistently the mid-year stretch, before the next occasion cycle begins.

Methodology

Based on Ziggli order data from October 2025 to July 2026. Internal, test, and staff orders were excluded. Seasonal patterns are drawn from order date, not delivery date.
